- Representatives of the St. Monica Ministry will be at the kiosk in the narthex. Please stop by to learn about their ministry and sign their prayer book of intentions.
The St. Monica Ministry is a prayer and support group for those with loved ones who have left the practice of the faith and all those still on a journey to conversion.
Participants pray intentionally for their loved ones, support and bring hope to each other, and nurture their own faith to grow in their relationship with Jesus so as to be examples for their loved ones.
Meetings are at 6:30p on the third Thursday of each month in the St. Robert Room of the All Souls Center.

Bringing Hope to Families in Need
SAL ANNUAL RUMMAGE SALE

This January, we have an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of families facing extraordinary challenges. Among them is a family of four—father, mother, and two children—who recently moved to the St. Anthony of Padua community in Croix Fer, Haiti. Their living conditions are heartbreaking: a house partially covered with tarps, no beds, no kitchen, and no proper shelter from the rain. Despite these hardships, the children are attending school and striving for a brighter future.
With your help, our rummage sale can provide essentials to families like theirs and others in need.
Here’s how you can make an impact:
- Donate Items (Jan. 22-23): Furniture, kitchenware, clothing, and other household essentials - We kindly ask that you refrain from dropping off items early. Unfortunately, we don't have anyone available to manage them or a place to store them until January 22 at 2 PM. Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation!
- Volunteer (Jan. 22-25): Help sort donations, set up, or assist during the sale.
- Shop (Jan. 24-25): Every purchase contributes to the cause.
Together, we can turn compassion into action and bring hope to our brothers and sisters in need. Let’s make this rummage sale a success!
CALLED AND GIFTED DISCERNMENT PROCESS

The Called & Gifted™ Discernment Process has been used since 1993 by over 200,000 lay, ordained, and religious Catholics and other Christians around the world. It is designed to help Christians discern the presence of charisms (spiritual gifts) in their lives. All Christians possess unique spiritual abilities given by the Holy Spirit that enable them to be a channel of God's goodness for others. Whether ordinary or extraordinary, all charisms ought to be exercised in the service of God (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2003). All three parts of the process are necessary for discovering where you are gifted.
- Part One: The Called and Gifted workshop, led by St. Alphonsus parishioners, lays the foundation for the beginning of discernment. During the initial Called & Gifted workshop series participants take the Catholic Spiritual Gifts Inventory.
- Part Two: A one-hour gifts interview. This is an invaluable part of the process.
- Part Three: Begin discernment in the real world.
- Develop charism experiments
- Evaluate your results
- Identify ways you learned to control life as a child that get in the way of using your charisms as an adult.

GROW AS A DISCIPLE | PRAY, STUDY, ENGAGE, SERVE
Late 19th-century English author G.K. Chesterton famously wrote, “Catholic doctrine and discipline may be walls, but they are the walls of a playground.”
We can think of God’s commandments serving as rules governing primary school recess: by providing us with a structure in which we can explore, play, stumble, and get up again, they allow us to discover who God created us to be without wandering far from his love. The mosaic law that served the Jews in this weekend’s first reading gave them the necessary parameters to live and grow within the covenantal relationship they had with God. Their unfaithfulness had led them astray, but upon their return from exile in Babylon they wept when hearing God’s Word for the first time in generations.
- THE FAITHFUL DISCIPLE
Research a Catholic teaching you do not fully understand (for example, why Catholics attend Mass on Sundays). Ask God for the light to see how this teaching is life-giving instead of life-limiting. If you have the opportunity, share what you’ve learned with someone.

This informal annulment session takes place every other month for Catholics whose divorce is complete and final. Others who have gone through the annulment process will share their stories and help answer your questions.

Help Make or Pack Rosaries for Soldiers
Rosaries for Soldiers began in October 2001 at St. Elizabeth Seton Parish, when a parishioner suggested that they make rosaries like her father had in WWII for our soldiers. They are now in our 24th year!
Rosaries for Soldiers began in October 2001 at St. Elizabeth Seton Parish, when a parishioner suggested that they make rosaries like her father had in WWII for our soldiers. They are now in our 24th year!
Helpers at Seton help fold the prayer sheets and band them for packaging and shipping with the rosaries; package them with rosaries in plastic bags along with other materials; band holy cards; and learn quality control on rosaries received.
This is a great opportunity for people with limited abilities, and most work can be done at home. Every 3-4 months boxes are packed for shipment to approximately 30 chaplains around the world.
