Welcome!
We are happy to announce that Tara Sheringer has joined our staff as Parish Secretary! She will work together with Jenni Knowles at the front desk.
Before coming onboard at SAL, Tara worked in the medical industry and for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis as an Advocate in the Metropolitan Tribunal. More recently, she was an office manager at Marian University. Tara and her husband John moved to Zionsville last year. They have one daughter, Julia, who is a sophomore at Baldwin Wallace University in Ohio.
Tara is excited to be at St. Alphonsus as a parishioner and a staff member!

We asked, "In what year were all churches granted permission to erect the Stations of the Cross without a Franciscan father overseeing the project?" Check out the timeline:
- 1342: Pope Clement VI named Franciscans the custodians of holy places.
- 1521: Geystich Strass, a German book, was printed with illustrations of the stations in the Holy Land
- 15th & 16th Centuries: Franciscans began building a series of outdoor shrines to duplicate those in the Holy Land - often placed in small buildings en route to a church.
- 1686: Franciscans were given permission to erect stations within their churches.
- 1731: All churches were given the right to erect stations within their churches, with a Franciscan father overseeing the project.
- 1857: Bishops of England were granted the right to erect stations without a Franciscan father.
- 1862: The right to erect stations without a Franciscan father was granted to all churches.
